For Immediate Release
Canvas, an industry leading provider of self serve mobile business apps, and Dovetail Associates on the Hudson have announced that a Business Improvement District (BID) in New England is deploying Canvas to their mobile Public Safety Officers and Ambassadors thereby increasing the service capabilities they are providing to citizens and businesses in their district.
This city’s Canvas application captures incidents in the district, including photographs, street level conditions such as street light outages and potholes, and logs daily activities. Using Canvas, Public Safety Officers can also access an interactive database of restaurants and retail establishments in their district so they can refer visitors to relevant businesses. The BID then can provide a report on how many businesses received referrals. The mobile application deployed to this Business Improvement District can be customized real time, and is simple to deploy and cost effective.
The solution was created in partnership with Canvas partner Dovetail Associates on the Hudson after this District was searching for a cost effective, powerful means of enabling their workers to replace their handwritten records with BlackBerry devices like the Torch. For less than the cost of the paper forms they are replacing, these applications cut down on all of the manual processes surrounding paperwork and allow the BID the ability to generate reports on the activity of their ambassadors that was previously not possible. Canvas also has the added benefit of working on every major smartphone and tablet based computing device (iPhone, iPad, Android smartphones and Tablets, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, and Windows Netbooks) whether the user is in wireless coverage or not.
In conjunction with this deployment, Dovetail Associates launched their own Canvas Mobile App Store focused on the BID industry. Business Improvement Districts can download and try these applications for free, customize them to fit their needs and give "going mobile" a try utilizing Android, BlackBerry or Windows Mobile devices.
"We became aware of Canvas while doing research for a BID client needing mobile technology. They evaluated the product and compared it to a few other mobile application building platforms as well as products built for the BID market. Canvas was by far the easiest to use and the most flexible in terms of platforms on which it runs. The ease of creating and publishing apps and a reasonable price point made it a winner. Dovetail also works on the Inuit QuickBase platform and the fact that Canvas has an API to allow for integration with other web based systems made it the clear choice," stated Feza D. Oktay President of Dovetail Associates on the Hudson.
"Canvas provides a perfect way for companies and government institutions alike to take advantage of the mobile application revolution. Business Improvement Districts in particular can speed up the flow of information and connect with their employees and citizens in their cities in a way that just wasn’t possible, or economical before," added James Quigley,CEO of Canvas.
Canvas makes it easy to publish data collection apps on wireless smartphones and other mobile devices such as laptops, tablets, bar code scanning devices and netbooks. Canvas reduces paper consumption, redundant data entry, and excess processes for businesses and mobile professionals. The Canvas software service enables mobile professionals to collect information using their mobile devices, analyze that data on the Canvas website and share information across their business community. Canvas also offers the first mobile business app store of its kind allowing business users to find mobile applications that work on a wide variety of mobile devices, with every application being customizable by Canvas users. Founded in October 2008, Canvas Solutions, Inc., is headquartered in Herndon, Va. Learn more at http://www.GoCanvas.com.
